Goal / SCOPE

The RDFA-editor provides a web-based solution to write and maintain legal documents that contain linked data. Offered in 2 variations:

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • User of software packages that use a linked data editor

  • Users of “Gelinkt Notuleren”-application

  • Open Source community & other services in the Flanders government

NL:

  • Gebruikers van software pakketten die de linked data editor gebruiken

  • Gebruikers van “Gelinkt Notuleren”

  • Open Source community & andere diensten/toepassingen van de Vlaamse Overheid (e.g. Kaleidos)

Non-goals (out-of-scope)

The RDFA-editor doesn't focus on custom styling or advanced layout of the text (unless the styles/lay-out are necessary for clarity and structure)

NL: De RDFA-editor focust zich niet op specifieke stijlelementen of gevorderde lay-out van tekst. (Tenzij the stijl/layout noodzakelijk zijn voor helderheid en structuur van de tekst.)

Metrics

  • Amount of vendor implementations: can we increase the adoption fot he embeddable version

  • End-user satisfaction: can we reduce the open bugs and frustrations (LB365 user groups)

Research introduction

EN - The RDFA-editor should provide “basic” editing functionality comparable to other available web-based editors. Note: advanced styling and layout options as available in desktop applications are a non-goal.

NL - The RDFA-editor dient basis bewerkingsfunctionaliteiten te bevatten, vergelijkbaar met andere eenvoudige web-gebaseerde editoren. Opgelet, geadvanceerde stijl en lay-out opties beschikbaar in desktop applicaties zijn niet het doel.

Er werd gekozen voor het ontwikkelen van een eigen editor (say-editor) omwille van volgende 2 strategische grondbeginselen: De editor

  • moet in derden-software licentie-vrij kunnen gebruikt worden

  • dient RDFA compliant te zijn.

Conclusion

  • Consistent feature set of design and layout tools (text styles, bold, italic)

  • Basic table features all work in a similar way (sometimes more styling options are available)

  • Selecting and dragging text is sometimes supported

  • Copy/paste removes styles or adds default styles

  • Copying lists or other semantic elements will work depending on the source (mostly works between online editor, not supported when copying from a desktop editor like MS Word or Pages)
